The table service problem Yoco can't solve alone

In a table service restaurant, a customer's bill builds over time. They arrive, order drinks, then starters, then mains, then dessert, then coffee. In between, the table might be transferred to a different waiter for the second half of the shift. By the time payment comes, the bill has multiple rounds of items attached to it. Yoco's basic POS handles none of this — it is designed for single-transaction retail sales, not multi-course, time-extended dining experiences.

How MangoPOS manages the table service flow

In MangoPOS, each table is a live account that stays open until closed. Waiters add orders to the table in rounds — drinks, food courses, extras. Each addition updates the running total. The kitchen receives routed tickets from MangoPOS for each order round. The manager can see all open tables on the floor view at any time. When the customer is ready to pay, the full bill history is on one screen and the payment is sent to Yoco automatically.

Splitting the bill among multiple diners

One of the most common requests in table service is bill splitting. MangoPOS handles this natively — bills can be split equally by number of diners, by specific items ordered, or as a custom split by amount. Each portion can be paid by cash or card (via Yoco). When a split card payment goes to Yoco, MangoPOS sends exactly the correct portion amount. The Yoco machine shows only the amount owed by that specific diner.

Waiter assignment and table transfers

In a busy restaurant, tables sometimes need to be transferred between waiters — for example when a shift changes mid-service. MangoPOS tracks which waiter owns each table and logs the transfer. This matters for cashup: tip allocations, discount tracking, and waiter accountability are all linked to the correct staff member. Yoco does not have any concept of waiter assignment — it is a payment device, not a service management tool.

Training your table service staff on MangoPOS + Yoco

The MangoPOS interface is designed to be learnable in one shift. Waiters interact with a touchscreen floor view to select their tables, add items from a menu laid out by category, and send orders with one tap. Payment is similarly simple — select the table, tap Pay, select Card, and Yoco does the rest. Most venues find that their longest-serving staff members are fully comfortable with MangoPOS within the first service. New staff can typically be operational within the first hour.

End of service: what cashup looks like with MangoPOS + Yoco

After a full table service, the MangoPOS cashup shows every transaction from the shift: table numbers, items ordered, waiter assignments, payment methods (Yoco card payments vs cash), tips entered, and discounts or voids. The manager reviews the cashup, notes any variances, and signs off. The end-of-day PDF is generated automatically. This takes 10–15 minutes at most — compared to the 30–45 minutes many restaurants spend manually cross-referencing their Yoco dashboard with handwritten till slips.

Can Yoco handle table service for restaurants?
